Overview
Tracking Reports help you organize and monitor policy items that matter most to your organization. Whether you’re managing bills across jurisdictions, following specific issue areas, or tracking legislation for individual clients or projects, Tracking Reports centralize this information into a single, dynamic view.
How It Works
Abstract tracks the progress of each policy item using live data. As legislation moves through committees, receives amendments, or advances toward enactment, Abstract updates your Tracking Report with:
Current status (introduced, in committee, passed, etc.)
Key actions and dates
Linked analysis (Impact and Strategy Reports)
Referenced documents such as bill texts and committee analyses
Creating a Tracking Report
Click + New
From the left-hand navigation bar, select + New
Input Report Settings
Title the Report: Stay organized by giving your report an identifiable name. Examples: “Data Privacy – Q4 2025” or “Client: Target Corporation”
Add a Description: Optionally, include a short description explaining the scope or purpose of the report.
Add Policy Items: Use the search field to find a specific bill or policy item—such as “AB 656 (CA)”—and add it to your report.
Run the Report
Click “Create Strategy Report”. The report may take a couple of minutes to complete as Abstract reads your footprint, your uploads, and all available policy data.
View and Manage Your Report
Once created, you’ll see:
The list of bills included in your report
Current status updates for each bill
Actions and associated documents (e.g., committee analysis, amendments)
Quick links to related Impact or Strategy Reports
Best Practices
Group by topic or client: For example, create separate reports for “AI Regulation” or “ACME Imc.”
Common Use Cases
Use Case | Example |
Client-specific monitoring | Track all related bills impacting a particular client |
Issue area tracking | Follow all data privacy bills across multiple states |
Project coordination | Centralize internal and external activity related to upcoming policy |
