Impact Report

Abstract can help you analyze exactly how an item, regulation, or policy impacts your organization.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

šŸ’” Generating an Impact Report may take 1-2 minutes to complete.
Each time you generate an Impact Report, Abstract re-reads your Public Footprint, your uploaded documents, and all jurisdictions available in your workspace. This ensures your report always reflects the most up-to-date information, but it also means that generation can take a while. Please wait while the system generates the latest results.

Overview

Generate an Impact Report to help you understand how a specific policy item affects your organization. Utilizing your Public Footprint, your Uploaded Files, and provided context, Abstract identifies where a bill, regulation, or policy proposal connects with your operations, clients, and strategic priorities.

Each Impact Report provides an AI-generated analysis of potential implications including legal, operational, reputational, and financial factors. This allows your team to assess what matters most with clarity and speed.

How It Works

When you generate an Impact Report, Abstract performs a new read of your Public Footprint, your uploaded documents, and the full text of the selected policy item. This includes summaries, amendments, and committee analyses.

Abstract then produces a structured report that highlights
• The key provisions of the policy item
• The potential impacts to your organization or clients
• The stakeholders or divisions likely affected
• The next steps or considerations for review

Each Impact Report is dynamic. If you upload new materials or update your footprint, re-running the report refreshes the analysis automatically.

Generating an Impact Report

First, Create a New Conversation

  1. Click + New Chat
From the left-hand navigation bar, select + New Chat.

  2. Add a Title
Select the title you would like to save for this conversation.
Optionally, you may also skip this step, and Abstract will auto-generate a title.

  3. Select Uploads
Choose "Use All Uploads" and Abstract will use every file you have uploaded as context in this conversation.
Choose "Select Specific Uploads" to manually select the specific uploads Abstract has access to in this conversation.

  4. Create the Chat
Click "Create Chat" to create the conversation.

Next, Generate the Impact Report

  1. Open the Impact Report Settings
Click the "Create an Impact Report" button. This will display the settings to generate an Impact Report.

  2. Select the Policy Item
Use the search bar to look up a specific bill, for example ā€œAB 656 (CA)ā€ or ā€œHR 1234 (Federal)ā€. Abstract will retrieve the bill text and related context automatically.

  3. Add Context
In the natural language prompt field, you can guide Abstract’s analysis with specific context.
    Example:
ā€œFocus on potential effects for our healthcare clients in California.ā€
ā€œEmphasize implications for marketing and data privacy compliance.ā€

  4. Run the Report
Click Create. Abstract will begin analyzing the policy item. Each run takes a few minutes as Abstract reads your data sources and generates a tailored analysis.

Reviewing the Report

When the report is complete, you will see
• A summary of the policy item with its status, jurisdiction, and recent actions
• An impact analysis that reflects your organization’s unique context
• References and linked materials from your uploads and public footprint
• Recommendations for internal review, such as which teams or departments should assess the issue

Best Practices

• Be specific when adding context so Abstract can tailor the analysis to your priorities
• Re-run reports after you upload new materials to include the latest information
• Add the analyzed bill to a Tracking Report to monitor its progress
